Our New Baby, 2024 252SE 🎉

Quick performance update as it is our last day at Lake of the Ozarks and I’ll post pics when we are home.

With 6 adults, 2 teens, 3 kids, 50-60% fuel, plus gear and cooler I got max speed of 44mph with bimini deployed with a slight south breeze behind us, water conditions weren’t glass but wanted to try it. When I ran to get fuel last night I ran wide open and got 48mph with just me on board and around 40% fuel, water conditions weren’t the greatest but still worth a shot. After I got fuel the starboard engine didn’t want to start as easy, which was probably due to running wide open and then slowing down quick and docking for fuel.

The boat is doing well, even handling pretty good sized wakes from some cabin cruisers. My average speed has been around 35-40mph most of the trip. My average MPG is 1.8, want to say running 30-35mph is the best for 1.9-2mpg pending how many you have aboard plus gear.

Had a great almost week at LOZ! Had some rain at night and mornings but didn’t deter our days at all! Filled the tank twice so used a lot of fuel! Even went past a wreck between a MTI and tritoon, thankfully no one was killed, just some minor injuries.











Visited many lakeside restaurants from MM19 to 47. The house we stayed in at the 40 is one of our favorites with the slide and diving platform. The neighbors who live down there full time liked us, said they enjoy good families, and then gave us the owner’s personal cell to save us some money next time we go back. We go back over the shootout from Wednesday to Sunday before the oldest starts school that following Monday, sad since summer is almost over!

Love it!! Glad to see after the early overheat issue the boat has worked out great and that you are putting a lot of time on it!

Visited dog days this morning for the boat and vendor show kicking off the shootout this weekend. Cheapest boat to purchase was an Axopar at 379k lol. On our way back to the VRBO I hit a decent cabin cruiser wake and the starboard engine died. Not sure why since the last 9 miles on the main were just as busy… It started right back up and we were off the last couple miles. Guessing maybe shifting fuel choked the engine but who knows! Averaged 30mph on a very busy main channel. We will probably stay up the Gravois arm the rest of the weekend though!

Usually that’s symptom of the clean out hatch switch… sounds like a great trip so far!!!!

Yes I am checking this tomorrow morning for adjustment, since it happened again to us today and it wasn’t really that big of a wake that shut both engines down!

FWIW from what I’ve read and from my own experience the hatch has too much play, just tightening the hatch latching mechanism because the hatch is loose solves it.

Note the orientation of the arm on the latching mechanism.

You’ll need a smallish Allen, maybe 3mm, to loosen the set screw on the latching arm then simply turn the arm clockwise a turn or two on the shaft, with the arm orientated how you found it, slightly tighten the Allen set screw and test the adjustment. Repeat as necessary.

Super easy to adjust for sure, just went one full rotation on both which seems to have more of a “spring” effect now when opening that rear hatch.

Hopefully that solves your issue ! Did the hatch have any play in it ?

Yea I could push down on the hatch while secured before adjustment so it definitely needed adjusted. Guess it just took a busy lake of the ozarks shootout weekend to finally show its face, since we didn’t have issues prior!

Issue resolved so far after navigating today!

Our last trip to the ozarks went very fast, sadly, even our oldest said on the last night, “I felt like we just got here, I don’t want to leave!” We stayed up the Gravois arm which we haven’t for a number of years. Being that it was shootout week/weekend it was pretty busy, even off the main. The boat took it all fine as we averaged around 30-35mph everywhere we went. My dad and his wife came for their very first time as well, they had fun and my dad caught a couple decent sized catfish. He even caught an old oil can from the bottom that requires you to punch open the top with a tool to pour it, ironic since we were cleaning out my grandpas house and found that tool a week ago!










We had a good trip, visited Dog Days, Neon Taco, Lake Burger, Coconuts, and a cove. The boat has right at 34 hours for the first year, so far. This morning it’s 45 degrees and tomorrow morning will be the same, school starts today for our oldest too. So the boating season is really winding down now. Sad to see Summer go so fast.
