Will a 10' garage door work with a Yamaha 252SE with tower folded? We are building a new garage with a 10' door. We are putting the motor on the side of the garage.

I read up where with the tower dropped it will be 9'11' Wow!!

Read up where the 242SE needs 10'.

Should have put a 12' door in.

Any guidance & help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Was having a very similar conversation with @Hot2Go a few weeks back before picking up the 252SD. He was kind enough to take some measurements.

Lead me to realize I needed to reevaluate the eventual garage and go with a 12ft door for simplicity. Looks like it will fit with the 10ft door, but you might need to use the shipping bracket on the tower to keep the “clam shell” from moving. Just folding the tower, kicks the back of the Bimini up high in the air.

Photo for review with the shipping bracket in place.

Thanks for the picture.

from what I’ve seen and heard, a 10’ garage door should just barely fit with the tower folded on the 252SE since it’s about 9’11”. But it’s definitely tight, and any small bump or misalignment could be an issue. If you can, maybe double-check the exact height of your boat with tower folded before finalizing. If not, a 12’ door would be safer and give you some breathing room

Contractor already has it framed for a 10' door. I am screwed. I read up where some guys let some air out of the tires before going in. Just keep an air compressor in the garage & when coming back out, air back up.

Boy, I screwed up on this. I am boat less now but I really should have done my homework before this mess. I did read where a 242 Limited S and 252S would be much lower. We just loved our 242SE so much more with that bigger bimini.

Thanks to everyone who have replied. I appreciate it.

It will work with a 10 foot door, but I have to put the tire pressure to 18psi in all 4 tires everytime. Also I always have my wife in the boat as I'm backing it in to check it's so close that the know on the wake board tower folds back the weather seal. But saves me 400 a month from my storage unit. I usually store it close by in the summer so I can leave tower up and have a big part of my garage back. If you decide to back it into your garage have a partner every time and take your time. Good luck.

Okay. Thank you for the advice. My wife always helps me backing in tight spots.
Thank You Again!!

the bimini top frame is easily removed with two screws. once removed, you would have zero issues

You don’t leave your tires at 18 psi do you ?

I have never looked at the Bimini super close to see those two screws. I will do that if I ever get another one.

Thanks
