Hi Guys, I'm a new jetboat owner of an AR220 we just recently (on Saturday) got to my 10 hours, is showing 10.7 on each engine and the boat showed me the message to contact the dealer to schedule the service I just called them and they say it will be $950 + tax, and I think that's crazy i have read a lot about doing it myself and I'm ok with it I think i can do it but on the other hand, i have a few other issues that I was waiting for this service to ask them to fix, for example, the new port charging pad on my AR220 never worked and it is not that important but i would like it to do as it is a new boat, also it seems my throttle are a little loose when i am over 15mph i need to constantly readjust them either one or the other one because they keep moving back and loosing RPMs (THIS IS MY MAIN ISSUE RIGHT NOW WITH THE BOAT) everything else is details like the back ladder is missing one nut, stuff i can figure. I really need some suggestions/advice, should i spend one arm and a leg and take it to the dealer or is there any way to figure the rest by myself

When I did my 10 hours, I changed oil/filter and inspected all the clamps and checked for leaks. I also checked air filter make sure its dry. Nothing much to it. For little detail jobs that you can do yourself your best bet is just do it, boat is not like cars, for little things they usually keep your boat for a long time. The throttle in mine is loose as well but there is a thread for fix, but I am not sure it applies for 2023 AR220, I will let someone with same boat comment on that.

Do it your self. Oil change kits are cheap, less than a $100 for supplies. Buy an oil extractor on Amazon and it is super easy. No reason to change plugs at 10 hours.

There is a cover in front of the throttle cables, pop that off and you will see a screw. Tighten that screw and your throttle issue is fixed.

You can do the work yourself and just document it to avoid future issues. For the other issues have the dealer fix them but also ask how they were missed in the pre-delivery inspection that you probably paid over a grand for.

appreciate the replies, if the throttles issue is as simple as that i think i can do it myself and just wait for the recall fix to ask them for the charging pad not working, they called me a week before to tell me my boat had the recall but they needed to order the part from Yamaha and they will let me know when it was there so i could take the boat in for the fix, i actually haven't experience any issues so i wasnt that concern about it, but now i will use it to ask for the other fixes.

is there any image/video about the throttle cables adjustment

Get the service manual, oil kits, and an extractor and keep almost $700 in your pocket. There is a lot of 'the sky is falling' rhetoric in this community but these are by far the easiest boats you will ever have to maintain and fix. Short of computer issues and major hull defects you can do everything yourself.

i dont think to have the service manual, what they gave me is the owners manual, how can i get the service one, should i ask for it to the dealer, is that something i should have received with the boat documents because i didnt

I just called them and they say it will be $950 + tax, and I think that's crazy

The staelership strikes again!!!

They will also stick the newbie in your boat with a grease gun and he will over fill the coupler bearing damaging the seal.

At least they'd have greased it, the only other important task in the 10 hour service but no one else mentioned it. I'm all for DIY work, but make sure you do it all :)

From Yamaha, the Service Manual can be purchased as a Hard Copy or you can get a subscription to view it on line for a period of time and FYI the subscription route blocks all attempts at copying the file. Only way to copy is one page at a time.

Take the boat in for the things that don't work or are missing. Perform the oil changes yourself and as stated elsewhere get the oil extractor and keep your records.

This is the fix for the throttle slip. Im assuming your dealer is Riva? They said my throttle slip was by design when I asked them about it in 2021. I just fixed myelf. I did pay them the $800 for the 10 hours service howerver. It was worth it to me since they check the full boat over and tighted anything that was lose from manufacting. I do my own maintence but did have to take to them 2 times last year for issues. Service Adviser Rene is awesome.

$800 for the 10 hour is absurd, they are not putting that much effort into anything, imho.

Agreed but Miami - Boating Capital of the world, you have to pay to play...

Ah good point. TBH people around here pay that. I may just start doing the 10hr services for $400 or so and I would make enough to upgrade my boat in short order :)

That price is stunning to say the least.

The parts are what, $250? And that is retail!

$100-$150 bucks for a can of Yamalube, 2 gallons of oil, two nicer premium oil filters, not the OEM crap they put in and sparkplugs. Throw in a Wax ring and a couple shots of grease in the bearings. Takes me about 1-2 hours to do my own boat and I am very meticulous, also check all screws and grease wheel bearings and lubricate other areas and I rub the damn thing with a diaper and use 303 and other sprays around the boat. And I will guarantee that no dealer will be as meticulous as you are with your own boat.

So you paid them to check over the boat that you had previously paid for to be checked over prior to delivery ?

All the items on the 10 hours inspection listed in the manual which includes fasteners etc. My dealer prep was actualy very well done, I hardly had any issues after pickup which is rare for a boat that was completed in the covid days. I also wanted the liability of the 10 hour service items to be on them, including the intermediary bearing grease filling in case of later issues. Peice of mind was worth it to me. I have done all my maintenance myself since.

That's a hell of lot of beer money.:winkingthumbsup"
I agree. I saw it as a one time investment since that's the most important service...
