I am looking to add a 12" (if it fits) or a 10" sub to my '05 Ar 230. I would like to place it behind the captain's seat in the wall under the cup and fire extinguisher holder. Anyone do an install in this location? My concern is I don't use the fire extinguisher holder anymore, but I will need to cut it out of the way. I could put it on my wife's side, but she's not happy about the possible install to begin with, and if if it's on her side, it would be worse.

Will the location on my side work, Anyone done it here? And if not, where do you have your's located? Lastly, has anyone done a bazooka in the one of the rear compartments under the seat?

Thanks.
Adam

I have not seen it in that location mainly due to depth between the inside wall and the outer hull. I have seen many people put one in the side was of the storage area under the seat directly behind the drivers seat. You just have to be careful placing items into the storage area so you done strike the back of the speaker.

Thanks Bronze. I think that I have the required depth as long as I take out that fire extinguisher case. I also heard that putting a sub or multiple speakers in the same cabinet, causes them to fight for air as they are trying to hit the bass all at the same time. Have you heard of this?

@Adam Graff , that is the location i plan to use if i purchase a sub, likely the Kenwood P-WD250MRW or similar. that model requires a little over 5.25" of depth. i've seen pics of them installed on the port side in this location, so there's no reason it shouldn't work on the starboard. and i imagine if that location didn't provide it, a simple plexi spacer would get clearance without intruding into any usable foot-traffic space. as for the extinguisher holder, i keep an extinguisher that is too large to fit in the helm storage locker. so i figure the holder could be removed and replaced with another cup holder, at the very least.
