1995 Boston Whaler Rage

Hello!!

I have recently purchased a 1995 Boston Whaler 15 foot rage jet boat.I have had several boats over the years and have owned 2 jet skis.

This boat has had the engine replace from the OMC to an Evinrude 115.

Is the Evinrude 115 really any better than the OMC?

As far as i can tell, the only benefit to the Evinrude over the OMC is that the Evinrude you can still get parts for.

Does someone else out there in the jet boat community have the same type of set up?

If so, can you tell me your experience with the Evinruden versus the OMC?

Sorry...upon further reading, it appears that the 115 Evinrude IS the OMC. The boat had the original OMC motor replaced with another one. Interestingly, the more I read about this boat, the more I hear negative things about it. I guess time will tell to know if the boat was a good deal or not.

After researching the Boston Whaler Rage models a I find myself wanting one! Every time we go on a family vacation my Dad wants to fish every possible moment. This keeps me running to transport him around. The Rage at 1200 pounds would be an awesome second boat that is easy tow and maintain.

I know this is an old thread. Just curious what kind of performance numbers you were getting out of your 15' Rage. Considering one here locally. It has not run in 3 years. Figure it will need a re-power. Just curious what I can expect to get out of it (speed, fuel burn, etc)

Hello all just got myself a used Boston whaler rage 15 with the 115hp Omc.. just don't know if it is normal that water comes out with the exaust or not ? I see that water is supposed To enter through the jet thing and goes through muffler, motor, heads, and not sure what else before exiting the back.. is it supposed To mix with exaust all so ??? Motor did not run for 3 years... starded it out of the boat for a few minutes and checked compression.. about 115 psi to 120 on all 4... comfused now.. please help me ... Thank yous

Yes, water exits with the exhaust. I have a 1985 Boston Whaler Outrage 18 with a 1985 Yamaha 115 2 stroke. My lower unit is a prop, not a jet drive and cooling water/exhaust exits out the center of the prop.
A recent run on the hose.

I wanted a Rage...The wife had an Outrage...in mind. Lol

Thank you for the resply.. yes i know that for the outboard motor... but not so sure for this particular type of inboard turbo jet engine...
