I haven't tried this on the boat, but it would have to be it off the water for a good test, or someone would have to watch carefully while you punch it. A new filter 100% eliminated the suck down. This is my fx 140 mr1 jetski.

Good observation! I bet pulling filters altogether eliminates that as well! Probably not the best of ideas.

Yes, of course that fixes it. I have little concern about running without a filter. The flame arrestors are filters for anything big, and dust on the water is rare. I'll be running a filter for river use because sometimes there are dust storms. Lots of boats don't have air filters.

I have the R & D filters and velocity stacks. Wanted some kind of filter.

I'm thinking of the r&d filters myself I believe someone on here put r&d filters and then just removed the metal screens that are on the stacks and got great results

I removed the ribbons and switched to R&D cones and filters. Between that and new factory impellers I picked up maybe 2 mph. My boat typically is heavily loaded with dual batteries, a fridge, trim tabs, full hydro-teak, porta potty, grill, spares, tools, life jackets and 600 pounds of people. We almost always have the bimini top up. When we bought her and before loading with mods she would top out around 46. That had dropped to 44. Now it is back to 46 maybe 47.
