2004 Seadoo Utopia 205 Hull Problems

Insurance just made me do a survey which revealed "there is some major water infiltration into the core of the hull. Unfortunately this is a fairly common problem for boats of this type. Sitting in the water most of the season can make the condition more likely. The danger with bad core in a boat like this is the potential for failure of the outer skin when moving at speed. The constant pounding of the water on the hull creates a diaphragm effect on the laminates which essentially pumps water through the damaged area and eventually pulverizes the remaining core and fibreglass structure. It is possible to fix, but not an easy or inexpensive endeavor. The outer skin needs to be removed and the core replaced. The skin can then be re-bonded and faired. It can be done in smaller sections to make it easier to handle. You can check it out yourself if you take a small hammer and tap the bottom. You will notice a significant difference in sound between the solid areas around the chines compared to the soft areas along the bottom of the hull. "
Apparently this is an issue with this make and model. Does Seadoo have any type of warranty for a faulty hull? Any suggestions on how to fix?

On a 20 year old boat? Known issue? If it were, they would have issued a technical service bulletin to address it. Sorry to say, that time may have passed as well.
