I have a 2004 sr230 with mr1 non ho engines that I picked up last season it was warm out today so I finished hooking up one engine it was pulled due to having water in it rings where stuck fires right up both engines appear to run ok. My question is how do I check the charging system on these to make sure both engines charge? Is it like a car where you should see 13-14v when running? if that is the case I don't even have 13v when running I didn't rev them tho this is at idle.

On a side note all of the padding under the hatch is falling off any suggestions on what to use to replace it?

I haven’t delved into the charging system on these engines, but if I recall correctly, they’re a stator system, which can mean little to no charge at idle. I’d recommend checking them with a voltmeter while underway, or carefully while on the hose, at maybe 1/4 throttle. Check the battery voltage before cranking, so you know it’s static charge.

hopefully others will chime in with any other advice.

Thanks for the input gong to try to look in the manual just downloaded it. Also I guess this forum is not as active this time of year or smthin? looks a little on the dead side at the moment

Make sure round connecter with green wires coming from generator is plugged in. Also, turn off any nonessential current draws.

yeah, winter time the sub-forums settle down, but there’s always activity in the general discussion. It picks up quite a bit once summer hits. Also, you’re dealing with something that is fairly rare, if I’m not mistaken. At least, I haven’t seen many people post with issues related to the charging system, so likely not a lot of personal knowledge on the subject. Myself included. I’ve dealt with many charging issues on many different kinds of machines, but never on a boat. Lol
