First off let me thank @JetBoatPilot for putting together our first and very successful group buy on SeaDek! Thank you Will!

I've had a virgin floor since 2005 and decided to give SeaDek a shot. First impression was great. Flexible yet strong to scrapes and wear and comfy under toe. I have had Hydro Turf on other vessels and wasn't impressed by its stiff feeling and long term powdering.

Let's get to it..........

This is my version of install and may not reflect the Jetboat Pilot instructions.

First up, remove those nasty little toe jammers.

Get a big rag and soak it liberally with acetone and rub the heck out of the entire deck.
The deck should be clean as a whistle with no oil or debris left behind.

image.jpg

Use 5200 and gently fill each screw hole. There will be a couple of screw holes left visible after the mat install at the engine hatch so be sure to take your time filling those holes aesthetically.

Meanwhile, out in the parking lot, my mats have been soaking up the Flo-Rida sun for about 45 minutes. This took the curve out of the mats from being in the box for a couple of weeks. Please note that Jetboat Pilot cautions against leaving these mats in the sun prior to installation due to previous cases of distortion. If you do it, use your judgement and don't let them get too hot. Once they are glued to your deck they can get hot because they are glued down and won't warp or distort from their patterned shape.

image.jpg

I started in the bow. I placed the mat down and aligned it to its perfect spot by feeling and looking at the existing nonskid surface. Once the ideal position was reached, I put my knees on the aft edge of the mat to lock it into place. Lift up the forward edge and peel back about 1/2 of the sticker backing and carefully tear it off. During the tearing be careful as this motion can move the entire mat. I used a razor blade to start the tear to avoid such movement. Once 1/2 of the backing is off, slowly start to gently smooth out and lay down the mat starting in the middle and working forward while watching where the mat is going. Be aware that if you stretch the mat left or right, your black lines will bend and alter your finished look.

image.jpg

With the first half of the mat stuck on the deck, remove the second half of the sticker backing and slowly press and guide the mat from middle to aft.

image.jpg

Work each mat out one at a time and always dry fit the next mat behind it because some of the nonskid areas are not an exact match to the mats. This way you can plan where you can make up a short mat etc.

I choose to special order the bow and locker door mat as one mat per area instead of two.

Working the second half of a mat.

If you didn't fill your carpet snap holes the many hours before and your 5200 is still tacky, beware! Use caution as you step through your boat as you don't want to track 5200 all over your boat and house! Also use caution with discarding the sticker backing as they will have 5200 boogers on the back.

Interior is all done. Time to take a moment and enjoy.

Really glad that I went with the titanium grey.

Here's a couple of shots of how I store the boat. All compartments opened to allow airflow.

Aft locker mats are coming soon. There seems to be a couple different doors out there. Yamaha might have changed the lock placement.

Here's my y valve Salt-A-Way flusher. I have tons of of GPM and flushing both motors at one time is a breeze. But each output has a shut off so if I'm somewhere that flow is an issue, I can switch between motors in a snap without climbing in and out and rehooking.

Thanks for looking!

Great write up and beautiful mats! Thank you!

That looks fantastic!! Great job! Can't wait to get mine this winter.

x3, that came out real nice and the write up will be helpful to many people.

Great job on the install. Looks like a new boat.

Thanks for the praise guys! It really transformed my bone stock looking boat into a looker!

Looks terrific!

I just received my new mat set today. I will be spending (HOPEFULLY) this weekend (Weather Permitting) removing the old mats (I know its a long slow process). Then maybe next weekend installing the new set. Photos of the removal and the install will follow as I accomplish this feat.:winkingthumbsup"

Man that looks great, since you have a 2005 and I have a 2006 the boats body style is the same. I actually think this model is the best looking, it has such nice curves in the back and actually has a pointed nose, I love the back hatches, the boat just sits in the water nicely and though mine is 8 yrs old now, sitting in water still looks modern. Nice choice on the grey, what did it cost to do the entire boat the way you did? Im not sure if I will go with the teak look or the solid, I ordered 2 samples and like the color "Storm Grey" it matches my interior colors

Looks great, Murf.

Nice job @Murf'n'surf Starting to think I should done the whole boat with the SeaDek instead of just the swim deck, hatches and bow anchor storage. Have too many other things I want to do this winter. Probably next year. I got the same color as you and happy I did.

Where did you get your sun shade. I have been looking for a longer one that standard.

Yamaha sold and might still sell them. They zip onto the back edge of the bimini.

Now that it has been several years, How has this install held up? Do these mats stick well to the rough fiberglass floor of a 2005?

Sold the boat many moons ago but if its installed properly and kept covered it will last for many many years. I believe @Bruce has some older turf to speak of...

My mats of similar vintage are hydro teak not SeaDek. Will warned me they would not last as long. On their ninth summer they have remained adhered and functionally perfect. The only issue is that the top layer is thin and is wearing off. I am considering replacing them.
