just wanted to double check before I ordered to make sure I am not ordering incompatible equipment.

Already have purchased and in the middle of install...
1) JL MX6.5 speakers with blue led lighting: 2 in bow area, adding 2 mid cabin, and 2 in rear cabin seating
2) JL mx 7.7 speakers with Blue led lighting in transom (going to have to enlarge cutouts).

Ordering this weekend:
1. JL media master headunit with sirus xm antenna and wired transom remote
2. JL M 8oo/8v2 to power speakers: 2 channels in bow, 2 channels in transom, and mid cabin on two channels, and rear cabin seating on lat two channels
3. two JL M10IB subs with a JL M series 600/1 sub amp

Just looking for clean/crisp music that we can enjoy on boat and immediate area when anchored, not looking to project far away.

I just installed 4 mx770 with the blue led and an mx500/4. Sounds so much better than my stock Jensen speakers. In the garage at least :winkingthumbsup".

I didn't go with a sub yet and am surprised by the amount of base without one. With what you have listed it should sound very good. I ordered from Earmark audio, Odin was very helpful.

See my thread for pics.

Thanks for the feedback. Also what material does everyone mount the amps to? not carpet right? I see a lot of "white boards", what is the material and info on it please.

I think some have used cutting boards, starboard is another choice.

HDPE, KingStarboard, resin-coated birch & marine carpet-clad, are the norms for making amplifier panels.
Odin at Earmark Marine is a great source as an authorized on-line dealer for JL Audio and Wetsounds.
Odin can answer every possible design and installation question, has several hundred instructional tutorials & illustrations, and is the industry authority on system tuning.

Thinking about adding two or four tower speakers.....what do you guys think about the difference between the JL 7.7M and MX series tower speakers....or just the M series 8.8?

I just put a pair of mx7.7 on my boat and they jam, carry all the way across the sand bar. I have heard some M 7.7. They got more bass but take more power costing you a new or bigger amp and a 2nd or 3rd battery. Aint seen the 8.8s around here yet but can only imagine they sound amazing.

Not really looking for huge bass, just good clean loud sound with some bass, have two dedicated group 31 batteries, if I add the tower speakers I'll add another amp no matter which set I get and one or two more batteries

Question about sub mounting....gonna go with the typical JL M10 IB one under port and one under starboard storage areas...do people usually just screw into the fiberglass? Or is it much better to use a ring backer behind the fiberglass and the sub/ring sandwhiches the fiberglass? If you sandwhich, then drill the holes large enough to have the screws pass through easily?

I had a 10ib JLSub mounted in the side and it just did not give me the bass i wanted. So i put it in a sealed box amd sounds 100% better. I used the holes just for ventilation. 20170128_145537.jpg 20170204_153304.jpg
