There have been posts mentioning that it's hard to tow other boats with the Yamaha jet boats. With this in mind, I hesitantly agreed to give a 35 foot (ish) sail boat a tow into the marina a couple days ago. I towed them for about a mile in medium winds. I wanted to hook their tow rope up to the ski tow fixture on the transom, but the rope diameter wouldn't fit into the fixture, so I tied their line onto the port side tow loop under the swim deck (scary thinking that it might get sucked up). I was alone in my boat and I was pretty nervous. Long story short, the 2015 AR240 managed just fine, with no problems at all. The boat went where I steered it, and the stern did not get pulled around at all. I towed at 3 to 4 mph in open water and I towed at 2 mph in the marina, all in no-wake mode.

I once towed a MasterCraft with an AR190. I too was nervous about it, but the 190 towed it just fine.

I towed an out of fuel 240 with a ski so I'm sure a 240 will tow just fine. My ski is 12 ft long and I think and 900lbs so that should be the equivalent of a 240 towing a 15,000 lbs 48 ft boat lol.

why didn't they just raise the sail?

He was not the owner, nor a sailor. He borrowed a friend's boat and just planned on going for a gas-powered cruise. They were lucky that they didn't get blown into the shallow water.

I have towed a 28ft boat in rough seas on my jet skis... all of should always help if we can.. you never know when you may need assistance.
