I am pulling a play from Ronnie' playbook here, but I figured I give it a shot.

I bought our ski, "CSN ORION" in December of 2017 in this very forum while it still have 8.5 hours. Now it has reached 110 and if all goes well we are taking to Key Largo for spring break in March. And while having dinner this evening a crazy idea pooped on my head. Say we go to Key Largo and on the way home we stop to a dealership, trade CSN ORION and pick up a blue VX Deluxe. After putting 100 hours on this vessel the only regret we have is that did not get one sooner and it has nothing but awesome for us. But I though it will make a good suprise for my 7 year old if we get him blue ski which happens to be his favorite color. Now anyone had asked me this question, I would said, " don't be stupid" keep your existing ski until your 7 year old become 13 years old, but when it comes to other I am rational. When it comes to my vessels and kids I am not.
In short I was wondering what the yall think about this ?

Personally I would not sell or trade a 2015 model for a 2021 model just for the color but only if the newer model had must have features the older model didn’t and which could not be easily added to the older model or could not be added at all. Like the ride system.

By the way, yamaha recently announced its current promotion which is supposed to end on April 1. Going by memory, It’s called 0/0/ 90 for $0 down, 0 payments for 90 days. For those that quality for Yamaha’s 3 or 4 percent interest rate the cost is $29 per month for every $1k financed. Not sure what the loan term is for this payback amount but assume it’s in the fine print of the promotion.

Thank you @Ronnie. No we do not need a ski, but I like to spoil the kids. The offer from Yamaha will not impact the decision as we pay cash for our toys. I hate loans.

I think I speak for Grace and @Bruce - it stinks to scratch up a friends new stuff, it much easier and more fun to "drive it like you stol' it" when you know it's "used" (wait until you see the video of me driving @zipper 's tractor, whoops, was that a blueberry bush?!?!)

I think spending $10-15K on a color to make your kid happy is ridiculous, upholster it, put a wrap on it but don't buy a new ski just for a color,

It won't be long until you're a two ski family, buy the new ski if you'd like, choose blue to make him happy but I wouldn't sell the 2015,

I’m in the same boat/pwc, the yamaha promotion isn’t a factor in my decision. Other than some numb nut may buy the ski I want on the offer. I’m still trying to decide if the incremental cash cost of the new ski (assuming I sell my ‘06 fx ho cruiser) is worth the new functionality and better/different ride quality of a new NA GP1800.

@Scottintexas makes a great point when it comes to letting others use my waverunners. My wife and I have two large family camping trips per year and my son and his friends use our skis now as well. My wife has already indicated that she will be micromanaging use of her new ski especially this first coming summer, getting another new ski may just be creating more work / stress for me. As it stands my ‘06 has its share of battle scars already, I’d be hard pressed to find a new one after any given weekend on the water.

Waaaait a minute my friend, before I let you use the Kubota anywhere near the BB bushes, you need to practice on the Cub Cadet riding mower first. ;) And then, if you are qualified with that, you will need to show it by putting some time behind the snow plow. And then we will discuss the Blueberry field. LOLOLOLOL.

This was a half hour ago 12" so far and snowing hard. Snow banks getting too tall. I will wing them back in the morning.

thank you Scott, I had not thought about the wrapping option. I think I will give that a shot....

I have some stuff leftover from Christmas, @Betik ... make you a helluva deal.

If you do not see great advantages, then do not exchange, I go to sea for my father's Yamaha 2011 and do not think about exchanging for something new
