I am new to the forum and found that this forum seems to be very helpful with tons of information. I currently own a 2002 Seadoo Utopia 185 and the wife and I are looking to upgrade. The other day I went to our local dealer and he had a new 2016 Yamaha Limited S on his lot. His asking price was 54,900 not including tax and registration. I would also get the 5 year protection plan with the boat.

He would also throw in the USCG accessories and the premium boat cover and for an extra $450 he would install blue underwater LED lights.

Just wondering thru everyone's experience if this is a good deal or should I bargain a little more either on price or additional items.

1 year ago I paid that for my 2015 with tax and 1000 miles shipped. For $450 to get a cover and lights is a decent deal, as long as you get some decent lights. The lights are $200 for popular Dagon, the cover is 6-700.

The bigger question is if anything in the 2017 appeals to you. If not, save the 7-8k.

Welcome Aboard!

I believe retail in 2016 was right at $62,000 and is $62,500 for a 2017.

New Yamaha boats almost always sell at or above the retail price the only exception being left over boats from previous years. I think you are getting a great deal.

Thanks for your reply. I was going to try and push my luck to see if he would throw in the snap Seadek or a Keel Guard.

I would not want snap in SeaDek. It would be the same pain in the ass as carpet. Water and debris will get under it forcing you to remove and let it dry. Get the stick down SeaDek and you will have years of worry free use.

Good point. Maybe go with carpet for the first year and then replace it. I have hydroturf in my Seadoo and love it. Nothing like washing down the entire boat and not worrying about having carpet to dry.

I bought a 2016 this fall after 2017s where released and got a similar deal as you. They threw in the 'starter kit' (anchor and line, left jackets, fenders, etc) with the price and extended warranty. My dealer wouldn't throw in the deluxe cover so just have the standard shipping cover right now. I say go for it! :)

Just heard from the dealer that his partner sold the boat without him knowing. I am really bummed was just about to call him and place a deposit.

@weaselman - sorry to hear. Where are you located? Guessing there's someone on this forum who knows of another good deal.

I live in CT. Trying to see if the dealer has another option. I knew I should have put a deposit on the boat before I left.
