Hello, I am a newbie here but far from it in the boating life. I have a few questions on the drive train from a 2016 sx190. If in fact I am posting in the wrong section please flag it and I hope a Mod will put it in the correct spot. I found a werked unit with low hrs and was able to get everything from it all wiring, controlls steering, dash, jut about everything but the hull and seats.
I am retro fitting it in a 1959 Custom Craft 15' boat. What I need or need to know is what the dimensions/volume of the water intake above the grate is and how the shaft is sealed at each end. Also there has to be a exact angle it should all be mounted at. I need this info before I do any cutting on the hull and building of the stringers. I wish I could have got that section of the SX hull but wasn't able to do so. I have a manual for the SX but it doesn't provide any of that info. Any help would be of great value to me. I hope to get this moving soon and I am sure I will have many questions about this engine.
PS. I don't know what happened to the type setting a puter guy I am not.lol

[USERGROUP=3]@Administrative[/USERGROUP] I would maybe suggest moving this to the general section so he can get more visibility and hopefully some help. Thoughts? I don't think too many people browse these newer year specific threads for help topics.

BTW @mark Livingston that is a cool pic of the drivetrain! You can see the everything all in one pic. Pretty sweet and I hope your custom boat project goes well once you can hopefully get some help from here.

Thank you, and thanks for moving it. I kinda wondered if I put it in the wrong spot. Yes that picture shows alot of it but I have much more. fuel tank/pump n senders, the controlls, the dash, steering, every wire even the orig bilge pump. it should be a pretty simple swap all plug n play sorta. The only real issue is that tunnel section. I need to replicate it. I am also looking for the bet pick up grate and the inlet scoop.

What an ambitious project. I don't have any help, but I wish you the best of luck!!!

See that rubber hose on the engine side of the drive shaft. There is a plastic through hull fitting that it connects to. Look for the recent thread about damage from sucking up a rope. The owner replaces this plastic part in his boat.

Part 13 in this picture is the fitting. Part 15 is that rubber hose.

@mark Livingston You might want to add your address to your profile to people know where you are. Your best bet would be to actually go and lay hands on a boat and potentially do some sort of mold of the tunnel. We have members all over the world....you might get lucky and have someone down the street from you willing to help out.

As you probably realize your project would be exponentially easier if you had the hull from the sx to graft onto your Glastron.

I don’t know if you there is a PWC that shares the same/similar drivetrain... but if there is I’d look to get a salvage one to mount your engine and pump and then start cutting.

Here’s a thread where they cut up a pwc and put in a new wood boat.

The Glen-L website also has a jet power sub forum where people have done the cut/graft thing but also there a few builds where they used just the drive train like you have.

Hello, I am back to work on this project but one major thing has changed. Also thanks for the response's that have come in. I am no longer using the Custom Craft hull due to the fact that the bottom design just wouldn't work with it at all. That said I now have a HydroStream Vector as the hull for this dumb idea, lol. I have found a couple late model Sea Doo hulls as doner's for the intake tunnel maybe. The issue being that my punp I believe is a 60mm and the Sea Doos intake isn't. One new question I have is drive shaft length. I have found a couple different ones but don't know if they would work with my engine/pump/ and everything in between. I could use one a couple inches shorter than the stock SX190 shaft. Does anyone know if the PWC shafts are shorter or if they have the same splines/Dia??

I have been looking around and found a few after market intakes/foot/grate. They don't come cheap and I am not ready, at this point anyway to spend that much because it is just a experiment, maybe if it really does work I will but for now I can't spend what they are asking. SO, I remembered yamaha used to use a bolt in unit on the PWC's and I have found a bunch of them dirt cheap, now the issue is the size, haven't found one for the 155mm pump.
Thoughts on these?s-l1600.jpg s-l1600 (2).jpg
