In search of another boat after my 2017 242 LSE went up in flames, we paid a visit to our local Yamaha dealer to see if he had anything. The challenge is that we got a really good deal on a factory demo boat last year so it's challenging to replace based on what we are going to get back from Insurance.
He has a used 2017 242x without trailer for $55k. It has 30 hours on it and well taken care of. It came with the 5 year YES so has close to 4 years left. Unfortunately no trailer so he is trying to find one and I've been looking around also.
Alternatively, I could wait until boat show and try to get another 242 LSE factory demo but a 2018 model. No guarantee that they will have any though.
So on the 2017 242x side, I get some additional sound which was the project for this winter. Of course there are the ballasts as well but none of us are surfers. I did plan to pickup the Yamaha surf bundle when it comes out.
On the 2018 242 LSE side, there is the 12" Connext with the nav. If I get the same type of deal as last year, it will come with mooring cover and 5 year YES. Oh yeah, and trailer.
If I wait for boat show, no loan or storage fees for a few months...at least until March.
Assuming both come in around $62k out the door, which would you go for? Are there any other benefits I am missing between the two?
