2017 AR210 - Swim deck speakers

Has anyone here removed the side cushions and installed speakers in the factory location? Seems pretty cut and dry. I’m sure I would have to remove the cushion clips and fill them in

I’m looking to start gathering the stuff (speakers, wires etc) to instal new speakers in these spots.

Anyone know what size the factory speakers would be there that would fit in the indent already there? I understand I will have to cut it out to fit the speakers.

*We have about 3’ of snow here or else I would take the cover off and see for myself.*

I have a 2006 210 and we put speakers behind with the same small gap you show, the sound was really dissappointing. We ended up cutting the cushion.

I believe I can remove my side cushions and not have to alter the big cushions. That’s what I’m looking to do. All 4 of my rear cushions seems to be independent of each other.

@Jebinok has JL speakers in the lower section and they sound great.

I have a 15 and my cushions don't extend as far, so I put them there. The sounds is just ok, but I wish I would have put them on the lower deck. That way its directed out the back of the boat, not criss cross out the back.

@jeff_s . I was thinking about doing the the same thing to my 2017 AR 210. The stock stereo and speakers are horrible sounding. We hang out off the swim deck a lot and when in the water you can barely hear the music. I'm interested to hear what others think of this idea. I may just invest in tower speakers and amp.

Yes! The stock setup is weak. It’s my biggest gripe but it’s an easy fix.
I’ve already replace the 4 cabin speakers with JL MX650’s. That made a huge difference.

Next is a new head unit. Gonna get an Infiniti 315. It’s a direct fit for the crap head unit our boats come with.

Yes! The stock setup is weak. It’s my biggest gripe but it’s an easy fix.
I’ve already replace the 4 cabin speakers with JL MX650’s. That made a huge difference.

Next is a new head unit. Gonna get an Infiniti 315. It’s a direct fit for the crap head unit our boats come with.

What about the rear controls ? That's the main reason I haven' swapped my hu.

I don’t have rear controls.

That’s half the reason why I’m changing my HU. I need a volume knob (current Hu does not have a volume knob) and my current HU doesn’t have the capabilities to hook up a wired remote control for rear controls.

I was gonna do that with my SX240 and 242 rear seats but the lines and colors did not line up and would have drove me crazy. Those were a little over $300 but getting them off and restiched only cost $80 and the colors and lines still line up.

#39 is the wing cushion.

So I bought a pair of JL MX650’s and I think I want to try to install them here


I can’t figure out how to get the cushion off. The top corner has something still holding it in.

I’m thinking 6.5” speakers might be too big here? Does anyone know what size the speakers are on 212 boats with speakers in this location?
