Man we pretty much use ours every outing! Of course my 1st mate is a red head!I rarely used mine when I lived up north too! I think they wanted to keep the price down, and the boat more "flexible" for the mid range size buyer.

Yamaha just priced themselves out of the wakeboard boat market, the price points for their boats is what brought me to Yamaha in the first place. If I were going to spend nearly 60K for a boat to surf/wakeboard it wouldn't be this boat, there are a lot better options in that price range.
I'm not sure thats accurate. The "real" wake boats all cost well over $100K. Yamaha offers a nice alternative with quality, fit and finish, and other features that make it useful for other things.
