I have a 2019 242 S E and have seen all the complaints about the factory wiring, cut RCA, etc etc. Is the radio itself ok? If I just get a new harness like this Amazon.com: Fusion Wire Harness f/MS-RA670 MS-RA770 Stereo - Zone 1 2 (. [010-12812-01]: Garden & Outdoor am I back in business or does the radio setup only for the factory installed stuff? I am planning on all new speakers, a sub, probably a 4th pair of speakers in the cabin as well as some tower speakers. Do I have to get a new radio too? Still can't understand why they would cut RCA's and wire it all wonky but it is what it is.

Also has anyone replaced the factory subwoofer with a more powerful one? How much depth is available behind it?

The factory sub is good the Factory amp settings are the issue. I have some info herehttps://jetboaters.net/threads/18-242-se-xe-212x-with-wet-sounds-amp-fusion-hu-getting-the-best-sound-with-near-stock-setup.26843/.

There are RCA signal wires but at the amps they have OEM plugs. I have made a adapter that goes from oem to RCA. If you chang out the amp.

Ok ez thing to do is
Option 1 the treble mid and bass adj listed above in my thread
Option 2 is add a line driver / bass booster this will help a lot
https://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i494_bass-restoration-expanders.html

Option 3 Cut the sub RCAs input wires going to the HTX6 amp they are not used anyways. Put RCAs on the end. Pick a second sub and amp that will run both of your subs.
If you add just a new amp and sub and still use the stock sub on the stock amp sub channel they may play at different Frequencies and could cancel each other out a bit

I will get you a depth info in a bit. The only infinite baffle / free air sub that may be more powerful will be Rockford PM210S4B 250w rms /500wmax and the JL in the M6 line the power ratting is about the same. The WS is 300w rms to 600w max. A free air sub does not take a lot of power to get it moving. A important thing when tuning a free air sub is to set the subsonic filter @ 30-40hz and the low pass filter to 80hz. The mounting surface needs to be braced. If the surface / wall flex. the flex will cut down on the subs output greatly. But you can not just add of wood to the wall as it will move too (yes not as much but it will) Also you can not just ad a brace of wood from the wall to the hull. The hull need to flex and a ridged spot at the brace area could cause spider cracking on the hull. I'm looking at adding a brace made from 2" spa flex pvc tubing or a 4" pool noodle from the mounting surface to the hull set in place with 3M 5200.

Yeah I was ready to get that wire harness to add back the RCA's run all new speaker wires to the speakers directly. Get 2 new amps (the 6 and 4 chan wet sounds) use the 4 channel for the six 6.5" speakers and also add two 6x9's in the front cabin area (so 8 speakers total, put two 4 ohm speakers on each channel, so 2 ohm load) Add two 10" wake tower speakers and run the 6 channel amp bridged to 3 chan. One for sub and the other 2 for the tower speakers and DONE. (well maybe replace the stock sub or add a second one)

Add a second sub. no need to replace. Pull the center cup holder out and see what model the sub is.

Was thinking about putting one of these in
or

That Wetsounds 6 chan is bridged to 585w at 4ohm

not sure but I think the factory yamaha sub is this one rated at 200w-400w

My 2018 242x has a 10" XS-10FA-S4V2 The RF you will need to look at the TS and see but I do not think it will be good in free air. The Wet Sounds REVO10HPS4-B is for sealed or ported boxes.
I just replaced the 6 OEM
6.5"xs with 8 REVO 6.5 two in the mid cabin. Just add a 2nd 10" XS-10FA-S4. I'm running the oem HTX4 on the tower and a SYND4 on the 8 6.5". Running a old JBL1200.1 on the subs for now, Next year we will be adding 2 or 4 more 10" subs at least 2 in the bow.
The WS 6x9 have horn tweeters and are going to scream in a mid cabin near the captains seat. You might find them over powering and find yourself turning the system down to your liking. But that will lower the level on the bow, rear cabin and stern. If you run the sub/subs off the tower amp you will not be able to run 2 zones correctly. If you turn the tower down the subs will too but not a big deal. The 6x9 are 5.5" deep. The deepest point in the mid cabin black panels is near the directly in line with the rub rail, even there the REVO 6.5" with a mounting depth of 3.3 will hit the rub rail screws. You could cut the screw but you will only gain maybe 3/4"

If you need to have the the WS 6x9 in your life they should fit in the stern and you could move the oem 6.5 mid cabin. But 2 horn drivers that close playing left/right/stereo could have a funky sound. Horn tweeters are very directional there will be a sweet spot right at the swim ladder. Anything off axis will suffer from the sound coming from the tower. Ask me how I know, well Yamaha programmed my amps wrong the tower was L&R (correct) but the boat was R&L(wrong). This jumbled the stereo sound and was enough to make me sick.
