I’ve got a 2019 two for 2X.

This morning, my boat started giving me a communication error telling me to check the depth transducer and a stereo error, both saying check auxiliary CAN.

Within about 15 minutes, I started getting multiple communication errors, including joystick, SPU 25–15, gps and Pump controller.

When I start my boat now the blower goes on and off like it’s losing the connection. If I try to turn the lights on, they flash on and off. My depth finder will randomly start working as well.

And t light on my joystick is flashing.

I’ve disconnected batteries, checked all plug connectors I can see and checked connections on the battery switch. All seem fine.

battery voltage on both batteries is reading 12.8.

Both engines start fine and I still have engine and drive control with my throttle lever but keypad and joystick are inoperable.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: figured out it was my depth transducer. I turned batteries off, unplugged transducer, turned batteries back on and all but the transducer communication error went away. I suppose now I’ll be reading posts on how to replace the transducer :-)

Hello! I came across you post and am having the identical issue with my 242s year 2020. Did you replace the depth transducer? Curious how that all went… thanks

As I am sure you have figured out, it takes about two years to get a new OEM transducer. I thought I had found a website that had them in stock, but after I placed the order they let me know it would be about a year and a half two years before I could get one.

Therefore, I am going to go with an aftermarket solution. There’s another thread that explains how to hook up a plug to the aftermarket transducer to allow it to plug into the factory harness. I have not yet tried it, but plan on doing it in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks so much for writing back... I have not discovered this unfortunate news yet regarding the availability of the OEM transducer... My depth and water temp have not worked for most of this year. It has become a problem I NEED to fix because the error codes are causing the alarm to go off and from what I can tell it cannot be silenced. Does the aftermarket transducer do both water temp and depth and function with the Connext system?

The marina I have the boat at is also not too keyed in with the Yamaha boats or any jet boats for that matter... The only Yamaha dealer on the lake told me they don't have time to look at it. Oy

Yes, the aftermarket transducer handles both water temp and depth function. Here is a link to a post on where the replacement process is described in detail.

Also, there is a guy on the Yamaha Jetboaters Facebook group that has made several custom adapters so you don't have to make it yourself. I think he is selling them for $75. Here is a link to his post....

WOW, thanks so much for this info!

No problem. Here is a link to the part on Hodges Marine...https://www.hodgesmarine.com/gar010-11105-00-garmin-airmar-smart-sensor-20-degree-tilted-nmea-2.html

Loose connection at the battery switch fixed all my Communication Errors on my 2019 Yamaha 212 Limited!!
I must have knocked it loose when I was replacing the battery cover after charging the batteries.
