So, boat market so hot and we are moving that I thought it would be a good idea to "lighten our load" for our move. I "just to see" put our AR 230 up for sale and ended up selling it in a day for about what I put into it and used it for 2 seasons. I maybe lost $2,000 but used it 2 seasons. WINNING.

Now. Family all had a meeting tonight and are not happy with my "cleaning house". The boat is the one thing they want.

I may have found a lead on the last remaining brand new AR 210 in 3 states. I need to call on it in the morning. But my major question with no sales pitch for the Yamaha dealer.

CAN WE SURF ON THIS THING? We dialed in the surfing on our 2006 AR 230 but I'm concerned the engines on the new AR won't have the same HP at the old mr1's...maybe more toque....they ARE 16 years newer than my old boat.. I know torque is just as important.

I kept all my surf accessories Gatline Wake Wedge, Custom Fat sac etc. But really want to know if people do surf ropless on the ar 210 before I put a deposit down to keep my family from killing me since I sold our boat tonight.

I mean, it's the same hull ad the 212x, so that's a positive, because they have the ability to produce a very good wave. I know there's guys surfing them out there, I'm drawing a blank in exactly who to tag. Without bashing, the twin 1.8L engines I think have a easier time with things.

That's my real only question..the engines..can't they keep up And not acre at 1000 rpm. In my ar 230 we could keep the rpm 8 to 9 once we had the perfect pass installed. And from what I'm seeing the CC is the same on my old mr1 engines and the engines that come i. The ar 210. But just like to know for my $$ that I don't have to spend $15 k more on the 212 x. No matter what u have to run external ballast to get a good wake.

That's why I was hoping for some real life input based on the engines.

We have a 2019 AR210 that I loaded up with ballast, people and the Wakebooster ...I was close to being able to surf- just needed to get the ballast in a better place. To be honest the engines didn’t feel heavily loaded at all...that is the least of my concerns. Doing it again I would have just bought the single rear deck fatsac made for the Yamaha and we’d be surfing all day.

These engines seem to have very good low end torque. It gets out of the hole fairly hard...the only downside is the top speed suffers when loaded with people...with 6 people it’s a 38-40 mph boat max.

How much for a new AR210?

It's like 48k out the door..not much wiggle room when the boat market so hot and nothing to do..thank God for.the lake for a few months.

Went from a 2005 AR230 non high out put and the 242xe has more power I think your motors are the same . The motors rev higher on the mr1 but they had a step down gear to the impeller shafts.

If you can wait a few weeks we are putting ours up for sale..

ThankS Cambo..but long island a long way away..and think I'm gonna buy new for warranty etc. Just torn are 210 or 212 limited..I'm talking to dealer at 9 am today

@OrangeTJ used to have a 210 set up for surfing I think. I haven’t seen him post in a while but maybe he will comment on this thread.

Good luck reaching a quick and inexpensive outcome @Milwmarc . A few years ago I bought and refurbished an old waverunner with my son, we used it for a few years until I found a great deal on a newer bigger waverunner. I ended up trading waverunners and putting a little cash on the top of the trade. Although it was and still is a great deal, my son resented the fact that I didn't ask or even talk to him about it before I completed the transaction. In retrospect, even though I paid for and owned the ski I should have realized his attachment to it and given him a say in the transaction.

Don't beat yourself up too bad. It's a crazy sellers market that I have never seen. And as many are mumbling about, there is going to be a glut of quality, low hour, used boats either late fall or spring when half of these new boat owners are going to have a dose of reality and dump them for a loss. I could be wrong. Of course they will also be upside down on their long term loans and be asking MSRP. HA!

Good luck, keep your eyes open. I have seen a couple floating around facebook in MN.

Wow, 28 years with no mistakes. I gotta meet you.:)
I got 37 years with mine and have made most of them. Including the Dustbuster for Mothers Day.
Would a Dyson have been any better? :)

A local guy featured in a yacht magazine showing his first boat and his last said “go bigger or get out.”.

Pretty neat that your kids were so attached. Wonder if the person you sold your boat to would sell it back. That would be a nice surprise to the fam.

Don’t recall who, but several people with the new 210’s say torque is no problem just top end speed. I was looking at buying one so I did a lot of leg work asking the same question. However I never did buy one, I still have my AR195.

AR210 in my opinion does not have power issues for surfing, however we are still trying to dial in the ballast. My 12 year old boy went ropeless this weekend for at least 30-45 seconds. I can only get about 10 seconds but feel it’s ballast and speed issue. We have a 2019 AR210 and we love it. I do regret not going with the “X” and probably of to do again would go with the 24’. All in all it’s still a solid and good boat.
We have the wakebooster, 800lbs in ski locker, 800lbs on surf side back seat, 400lbs in back middle between seats and 400lbs on swim deck. We think we need switch to 800lbs on swim deck and both 400lbs on back seats. Also need to figure out the correct speed. We also have Ride Steady installed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks All. Well Just said the heck with it and put a deposit down on a 212 Limited S getting it July 21st. Very few choices right now at the dealers. Everything is picked over and the dealer who has never steered me wrong told me that its next to impossible to know how many they will get for next season as shut downs between many trading lanes between America, Japan, China, etc.

So No I didn't get a steal like some I have seen back in January before we knew the whole world was going to implode, all activies shut down and if you have access to a lake that's about the best you are going to do!

Same dealer said the Fall UTV inventory is already almost all gone and people are already asking about snowmobiles up here in da North Wisconsin Country. I have the feeling (my wife and I included) no matter what happens with Covid we are in for at least one more summer where not a lot will be open...and even if things do open theres going to be a lot of skittish people. We have found the less we have been in any crowd, we haven't missed it. Small gathering of friends on our Lake, at the sandbar or a few people in the backyard surpasses a festival and a bar now in our world.

So I'll cringe I may have overpaid as I paid list on the Yamaha website. When I called this morning at 9:02 A.M. they opened at 9. I was the 3rd person on hold. By the time I made the selection of the 212 Limited S, the other 2 boats , an AR 210 and a 212X were being written up as well, Dealer said he is now OUT of inventory and Yamaha can't get him anymore for the season.

So, if your gonna sell, now is the time to get top dollar. I got $25K for my 14 yr old AR 230.
