No you do not have to buy a spacer. Just make sure to also remove the rubber grommet around the ribbon. DO NOT leave it in.

Did you ever do the Ribbon delete and L13? I was thinking about these mods as well. Would love to know the performance implications. I'm getting about 37 MPH WOT.

I have a '19 SX190. I have completed the ribbon delete and went from 7500 to 7650-7700 rpm and gained 1-2 mph. Which means around 38mph in average conditions. In the middle of summer, probably 36ish. In early spring, might see 40 when lightly loaded. I did use the Riva Racing piece.
Probably going to do the L13 this winter. Already have taken off the deflector and nozzle.
