What is this plug for? Brand new AR 250. It's above the waterline on the bow.

Anchor locker drain. Sometimes it's above the waterline. A source a consternation for lots of us as the fitting does not go all the way through to the anchor locker meaning that when underway, waves can enter the hole and get into your boat. Most folks replace the fitting with a stainless steel fitting that passes entirely through the hull.

Skyhawk223- Thanks. Makes sense.

Fully agree with Skyhawk223. Do the upgrade to the stainless steel one.
I have the same boat (2022 AR250, same color. Gorgeous boat by the way) and the existing locker drain port was not going through completely. Lots of water going through that hole to the in-between hulls to the bilge.

Did you do the mod? If so, what fitting did you buy. Love the color scheme on the boat.

It will take on water when anyone rides in the bow. I plugged mine with a cork. No more water in the bilge however Yamaha should repair this issue as it is a manufacturing issue.

I don't recommend holding your breath on that, nor would anyone recommend leaving the boat with your dealer to "fix it under warranty" during the boating season. With the amount of headaches this causes, Yamaha should have discontinued this many moons ago - the fact that it still exists on new boats is a testament to the concern they have on this issue, which is why you're better off replacing it yourself.
