I purchased a 2022 165 ID with the 300 ACE engine in April, and gave the dealer $8k down. The contract has a stipulation about price increases. When I questioned that, I was assured that I didn't have to worry about it, as they had already increased the price by 5%. Although I bought this for next season, it is now scheduled for September production, and the dealer should get it by 1 October.

I was just informed that there was a $4k price increase on the Rotax engine! I was able to negotiate that down to $1k additional. They said that another customer, who had ordered a twin engine boat, has an $8k increase! They also said that Chaparral can't get any engines, and will be discontinuing their jet boat line!

Anyone else running into this?

I've seen a few such reports. If you signed a contract allowing price increases... not much you can do except what you did. Some have a contract that states the final price with no such stipulations. Unless the laws in your area prevent this type of thing from happening.

So you're not alone... Welcome to 2021/2022, when everything is out of stock and companies can charge what they want.

Not without engines!

Just a few weeks ago, everyone was complaining that Yamaha had increased their prices for 2022, as if they were the only company to do it. This is happening for virtually all manufacturers though. Supply chain and labor issues are making it harder and more expensive to build boats. Even non jet boats are up in price. Moomba, Sea Ray, and others are up around 10% from 2021 to 2022.

Yes, confirmed. Chaperral is done with jet boats.
