I decided to keep the boat on my covered lift for the winter. Have her double bagged with my premium cover and then shipping cover on that. Marina owner called and asked if I could lower the tower in case we get crazy high water levels. Boat is an hour away, but I'm headed that way to ski this week. Is it possible to lower the tower and use the cover(s)?

Assuming you have a full mooring cover, I would be concerned about the back end of the tower and how it changes when lowered and the ability to Velcro the portion of the cover that feeds through the tower.

Yes, I keep my boat in covered storage and have to let the tower down for it to fit. I've installed the mooring cover and shipping cover with tower down. You have to work with the Velcro piece that wraps around tower base, but it works.

I believe this is how the boats are shipped from Yamaha.
I believe on mine there was a few pieces to keep the tower from banging during shipment.
You might call you dealer as they should be familiar and possibly have those parts laying around.

I keep mine in covered storage so don't see it necessary to use any cover. I leave the boat and all of its compartments open.

Out of curiosity what are the chances you keep your boat up at river run harbor? I saw one just like yours there all last season. We got some high water levels last winter there when the channle got an ice dam built up. Boats were floating all over the place one night!

Great pictures Dan. Agree that the shipping cover allows the tower to be folded however I was thinking about the mooring cover. The 242's have a piece of the cover that slides through a portion of the tower. When its folded the cable may get in the way. However it appears that @MattFX4 does this (I have never tried). I was intending to do this for winter storage this year however mine was wrapped and stored at dealer for no cost. I couldn't beat that. Next year I will most likely do this.

@stever40 I have my shipping cover on mine right now or I would take a pic. You sort of just run that little flap piece around to the left or right of the cable and Velcro it like normal. It's loose, but it Velcro's down. My boat is in covered storage so no real wind or rain issues. I still keep it covered though to keep dust, dirt, bird poop, out.

So I went there today, awesome. Cold and windy. Had to unlatch both covers and was able to get it lowered without issues.

And yes, I'm at harbor run. I'm on the farthest end from the channel. Spot 118. I was able to get it about 3-4 feet off the water with it lowered.

Small world! See ya around this next season. I'm over in 21.
