Ok....now i have a strange problem with the connext screen voltage display. The house battery shows 6v while the battery is fully charged. The battery has been on a trickle charger all night and the charger says it is charged, so does another heavy charger i have, and EVERYTHING works fine. I had the stereo cranking!!!!

The probem is the connext screen alarms every 5 min due to low voltage....

Did you do the connext voltage fix? When stereo is hitting hard I can see a momentary drop of about two tenths (volatge fix not yet done). I really dislike how they wired the vilatge inputs to the SPU so I would first recommend the voltage fix as that will deliver direct from the batteries to connext without going through any legacy bs in-between.

Ive not done the connext voltage fix.

IMO there is one way to fix what Yamaha mucked up... DIY. I know you have the skills to get that done. If it is still reading 6 vdc after thst then something is messed up in the SPU.

So i connected the aux batt wire to both the aux battery and the starter (or sys) battery and I still get stupid fucking low voltage!!!!! Arrrrgggggg

The photo of the connect screen is when they are both on the SAME battery!

So I went through all the wires and all the connectors and couldn't find anything, so I'm going to have to take her back to the dealer to see if there is some way to reset/recalibrate the voltage sensor for the house side. They will probably have a problem with the fact that I've rewired the SPU so it has a direct connect to the battery.....

Did you test you battery with multimeter @Julian to see what it's reading? Would help if we could see your battery setup and all. You should only get a 6v reading from a 6v battery. 12v should not read that low even dead. But hard to troubleshoot without knowing your battery setup.

The battery is alive and well.....I had neighbors 3 doors down come over to inquire how the boat was and if what they heard was the stereo on the boat as it was LOUD! LOL....whooops.....so the battery charge isn't the issue.....I was ROCKIN'! Funny part was when I connected the "Aux batt" cable directly to the SYS Battery.....it still showed 4.5V on one display and 12.8 on the other (connected to the same battery!)....

Yamaha thinks it is a bad connection in the SPU. When I pulled the SPU it seemed like there was some moisture in there...not much, but a little. So they want me to put some dialectric grease in there and see if I can ensure there isn't corrosion/bad connection in the SPU. That will be my chore sometime this week. I have no idea how moisture would have gotten in there, but I think I will be putting "No Damp" into that compartment in the future over the winter. Typically my boat doesn't sit out in the winter without "No Damp", but it spent a few months in the dealers parking lot getting rained on, so the moisture level did go up. I have to assume it was some sort of condensation....which might have caused some corrosion.

I'll update here if that was the solution.

Best of luck Julian. I hate these electrical gremlins. Even though I don't have a ton of electronics on my boat I also used those No Damp things in every compartment including engine during the winter storage. Probably overkill for me being garaged but I'd rather lean on the side of over protection from moisture than not. Hopefully they get it sorted soon.

@Julian - That sucks. What does connext say when you disconnect the aux battery connection?

Julian, did you upgrade the stereo?

Sub volume control? Doesn't it come with that?

It shows 0v when the wire is disconnected.

So I figured it out today. I got a replacement SPU (this is the box in the starboard underseat storage area) because Yamaha thought that this was the issue, and it showed almost zero voltage.....so not the issue. So I decided it HAD to be a connection issue in one of the wiring harnesses. So thanks to Yamaha labeling the wires so well, and me already knowing which wire was which, I got a ton more aggressive with the wire going into the plug on the SPU, and JAMBED it in there as hard as I could with a pair of short needle nosed pliers....and PRESTO....12.5V! I still think that this was due to moisture getting into the SPU and plug and corroding the connection, but at least I now know the exact source of the issue!

Now I just need to pull that plug apart and redo the connection between the wire and the pin. @Mainah do you know if any of the auto parts stores carry the needed pin connector? Yamaha is sending me a couple of the connectors...but if I could source one quickly locally I'd tell them to hold off and just run out and get one. Chatlee and Yamaha have been AWESOME and helpful in routing out the problem!

The new stereo ROCKS!

@Julian - Glad it all worked out. I usually order pin connectors like that online so no idea if auto parts stores carry them.
