Edit - Beware!!!!! While a direct fit there are some gotchas experienced by @ kane in a real world install. Stock sub is through bolted with nuts on the back and stock amp does not have enough power for the mm are the biggies. End Edit

Short version is that I just swapped out a polk db1040 for a polk mm1040um. No I don't have a 242x but same 1040db is stock on the 242x and in essentially the same location as mine so I thought of you guys.
I am happy with the investment and this is a direct fit upgrade with no cutting or drilling needed and the mm requires less mounting depth so no clearance issues. Just snip off the spade terminal ends of the factory wire and strip 1/4 inch to insert into the spring terminals on the mm. You will likely also need to turn up the gain for the sub at the amp.

Here is the link to my audio upgrade thread. I just updated it with the swap.

Best place to buy for me at the time was Crutchfield at 150 bucks with free shipping and free grille.
