Anyone else had or having this issue? My 2022 252XE just came out of its annual pre season full service. Went for a test run out on the local lake, everything ran good for a min until I received this message with a red engine light. Starboard engine was stuck in neutral and would not go into forward or reverse. Restart to engine with no change. Power cycled the boat and batteries with the starboard engine now starts in the forward position but will not accelerate. When I pulled the boat of the water the reverse shroud was stuck halfway down on the starboard thruster.

Seems like these e-series boats are very sensitive when it comes to voltage issues and if anything (tiny speck of something) gets lodged in the buckets causing the mechanism to fail (going into reverse or forward). There is an override in the helm to manually control the buckets instead of electronically, which is found in the owners manual.

So, how old are your batteries? Do you maintain them over the winter or do they stay in the boat?

Do you boat in freshwater or salt water?

The batteries were replaced two years ago since then, I keep them on battery tenders on the off season. I also only put my boat in fresh water!

Have you done the override before? Because i apparently I can’t get a boat tech to look at the problem for almost two weeks and I have a trip coming up.

Get a rubber mallet and bang the crap out of the reverse nozzle. Like @Hot2Go said small debris can get in and jam the bucket. Happens a lot if you reverse in shallows.
Then cycle the batteries off then retry to start that engine and cycle forward and reverse and see if it clears

This has been well documented here that this happens

Below is a photo I saved in my notes in case I ever had to do it. You can look up the owners manual online if you want a better pic!

Just got the boat back from the dealer. Like you all said, when the boat is in murky water or something causes any kind of resistances to the shift gate it goes into self protection mode and throws a code. Overall it won’t allow you change gears until code is cleared.

They said to clear to code out on the water in one of two ways

1. Power cycle tho boat completely on and off 3-5 times

2. Disconnect the negative terminal to your batteries and wait for min or so then reconnect it.

The way I’ve seen the code clearing process

Batteries on
Engines on
Engines off
Batteries off

Repeat five times.

When you say you leave your batteries on a battery tender what device(s) are you talking about exactly? If you do not have dedicated smart chargers either on board or clip on to maintain the batteries properly. You said you leave them on tenders in the off season, what about during the season?
