So, was just curios if anyone else has any input on this.

Coming from a 2014 242LS I rarely smelled the exhaust from the engines. Occasionally yes but not bad. I've noticed on my 2024 255XD the exhaust is much more apparent and strong, so I have ordered a Co2 detector to add to the transom for my own curiosity and peace of mind.

Is it just because the engines are still breaking in? I have 14hrs on them now. Higher octane used for the SVHO engines? Just curios what other have noticed.

Thanks

I haven’t noticed an exhaust smell on mine at all, even when in no wake mode.

Shot in the dark, but I wonder if the new transom design allows the exhaust to roll back more onto the boat? For sure monitor that.

Haven’t noticed this at all on mine. I have a 5 minute ride through a canal system to get to open water, so I’d have noticed it I think of it were there. Were you noticing this from the helm position?

It is possible you have a bad exhaust hose connection in the engine compartment...

Just a guess...if it's turbo or super-charged, you push more air and fuel in the engine, therefore more exhaust output.

@Julian

Could be a possibility, but getting access into that area is a small miracle. Compared to my old boat they have so much jammed into that rear access. I'd have to take a ton of stuff off to get in there.

Now for clarification, its not all the time, but it's more than my older 242 at this point.

Just asked my wife, who is unbelievably sensitive to smells, and she said she’s only smelled exhaust once, when she stepped onto the swim deck to untie a dock line with the boat idling.

I’m in agreement that you should check for a loose hose. Or have your dealer check.

Thanks guys… really appreciate the feedback. I’ll look into it some more.

And you will want a CO (carbon monoxide) detector, not a CO2 (carbon dioxide) detector.

? totally correct…. ?

If I had hair, it would be blonde ??
Ahhhh, some days I even surprise myself with some of my stupid mistakes ?‍♂️?

So, update from my end. After I did the 10hr service (at 14hrs) and running around all week in PCB at JetSet 2024, I never once noticed the exhaust like I had before? Who knows... Maybe after the oil change and getting some nice long runs in, it helped with the break in process and nature took its course? When I hit the lake later this week I'll see if its any different.

Thanks Y'all

It's 100% possible that you were smelling the engine breaking in vs. actual exhaust.

Now that you mention it. After my 10hr. service I do not smell the exhaust as much so I am hopeful yours is a break-in period as well. I went through every hose clamp, fitting, etc. I could find chasing down my water issue we've spoken about so I know there are no exhaust leaks for me. Happy hunting.
