I'm interested on buying a 2019 AR210 because I really like the tower functionality. The only thing I really don't like is that the var model doesn't have a 2nd captain's chair like the SX model. Is there any way to add that as an optional at the dealership when you're purchasing it? Thanks

Let me tell you a story about how I ended up with a 2019, 212X.

We went in looking at the AR210 (wife loved the blue), sitting in it, the wife said, I want a captains chair, the saleman said, no problem, we do it all the time. (So that answers your question). Then she said, I don't like the Pad where the glovebox usually is. I asked if we could remove it, he stated that they would have to cut it out, then rebuild it for the govebox. Not too keen on that idea.
My wife looks over and there is the 212 Limited S, she states, I love that interior.
Me: That's the limited S
Wife: Yeah
Me: That's the upgrade
Wife: Yeah
Me: That's the "luxury" 21 footer
Wife: Yeah
Me: So that fucking pad is gonna cost me $10 large?
Wife smirking: Yeah
Realizing that for the next however many years, I'm gonna hear about that damn pad (and I also wanted the 1.8s)...
We got into the Limited S and I look over and there is the 212X... With the blue she loved.
Me: So... how much more for the 212X
Saleman smirking: $4800
Me: God dammit, fine.
Moral is, you can upsell yourself real quick. Also, you can just have them put in the chair for about $1500.00.

The key.....she is smiling more than you in the picture. Or is that a smirk on your part.....and you had the dealer line them up that way from the start? :winkingthumbsup"

that's some game of thrones level scheming there!

or in @PJ73 case, Palpatine level scheming.

I didn't think I'd like the bench seating, but with 3 younger kids it makes the boat more practical. I would want the 2nd captains chair if it was mainly going to be adults on board though. Regardless it's a common request so you should be good with the dealer swap.

We boat our 2013SS that came with the captains chair. A year later, i bought the 212X bench and put in place of the chair. We have a 3 year old and 5 year old now.. they were new born and 2 at the time we changed the seating.

so im guessing its a pretty quick fix the AR210 to add a 2nd captains chair

It should be easy from a work perspective. The entire bench seating just pulls out. I don't know about easy on the wallet though.

I love having the second Captains Seat that is standard in the 212SS.
Only complaint is that the OEM passenger chair sits taller than the main Captains seat- I believe it is so the bench cushion behind it can be removed. Any lower and the bench cushion would be a tight fit to remove.
Now that I’m used to it, it’s a non-issue.

That design was changed at the 2016 remodel. Both are identical positions.

Great- now I have to upgrade my boat!
:)

I might be in the minority here but i have a 2018 212x with captains chairs and i wish it had the bench seat. Has anyone seen that done?

I don't think you can. At least not as easily as going from bench to chair. First, the consoles are different so I think you have to built something for the bench to mount to and second I don't think the vinyl on the AR bench would match the rest of your boat.

My thought. I have measured or priced out but get a fiberglass box made to fit the space that will bolt where the chair currently does. Then get another bow seat for matching vinyl. Would give extra storage but not sure if I’d like it 1000-1200 more than the captains chair

My wife prefers the j layout by a long margin. Be sure it's what you want before you do anything costly.

If you are past that point, carry on.

The bow seat is slightly curved. Not sure how that would look but it may be fine.

We currently have the J-Seating. We're considering making it modular with another captains chair and pedestal. When it's just adults on the boat. The second captains chair would be nice. With the boys, the J-Layout wins hands down. If we could make them "hot-swappable" before we left for that day that would be ideal. Not really sure how to make that happen just yet, but the boss has asked me to investigate.

Any recommendations to purchase a OEM Captain seat for a AR210 (2019) in blue
