4th of July 2017, What are your plans?

Zachs on the 4th is Bananas. . . . .

Yup, definitely can be. We get there early enough to get a spot. I usually wait 30mins after everyone starts to leaves to avoid the chaos.

I actually love the night cruise back.

Sounds like a good plan. Be safe and enjoy!

We took the boat out for six hours on Friday but avoid boating on holidays. Instead we will take a 3 1/2 hour car trip to the west coast of CA for three days of sightseeing and relaxing.

fireworks last night. thunderstorms early evening kept most away. Had the cove almost to ourselves. That camera flash is WAY TOO bright when you sitting in the dark.

Happy independance wknd. The original #brexit1776

Having company at the bunker (lakehouse) all weekend.

Be safe/enjoy all!!

Visiting Mom in the U.P. of Michigan this week. (No boat. Causes "political" problems since Mom is not a boat-fan.)

The the weather forecast has turned from mostly rain to mostly sun - beautiful 70-degree-ish days and cool (mid 50's) nights as is normal around here in early July.

Time will be spent at the cottage on the lake, watching fireworks from the Hubbell Sands, a big gathering of Mom's old friends to watch the parade go past the house (the vast bulk of her generation has passed on and there isn't really any other family around here anymore so we invite her friends), launching fireworks at the cottage, a trip to Copper Harbor and anything else we can do to stay busy. Mom is going to be 80 this August and I'm telling ya: She's a hard lady to keep up with!

Down on Ohio river for the night for some fireworks. Left the Yammi at home and on buddy's Carver.

Mostly not checking jetboaters.net. :)

Closed a major merger deal on Monday, so worked like a dog all weekend long, then spent Sunday and Monday out on the boat getting re-acquainted. Too tired to move today... Too much fun.

Happy 4th everyone! Loved seeing what everyone is doing.

awesome. we had a blast out on the river monday! Now, not to take the thread TOO far sideways... so, you are on the Mississippi, and you are 7 pools down from me, so, naturally, I imagine ole muddy is even muddier....

how do you get along with the jets? not a "do you like them?" question. curious. are you constantly cleaning them out?...having to stop?...that kind of thing. pool 19 is usually riddled with debris so its a concern. I actually got to speak to a jetboater that day... says he doesnt have too much trouble. but it was a POS ole school seadoo speedster. then said something about sticking some chicken wire on the inlet ports. and he lost me. never gonna happen. LOL

Wife and I are pretty close to changing boats. This fall or more likely.... next....

No concerns about water clarity at all. I do have to clear the occasional twig but takes less than a minute. Boat stays fairly scum free and wipes off easy if you polish it once or twice a year.

I would say I stop to clear the jets of something 1 out of 4 trips.

excellent. thanks!

not worried about the clarity. just a humorous comment, the mississippi is always muddy. thats our stomping ground :) But with my I/O, ive had numerous problems hitting stuff... had a log wedge between the lower unit and transom once.... spun a prop. broke a chunk off the anti-cav plate.... we are currently(still) weighing the differences between the two- a mild hassle of stopping " 1 out of 4 trips" to clear the intakes vs once a year or so major lower unit scares or repairs. :)

thanks again, I appreciate it.

I use to have an I/o, I prefer the jets. No worries of lower unit strike and the maneuverability is great. Clearing the intakes is a non issue. I have only struggled to clear once, all other I was on my way in seconds.

Soon as I suck something up I shut it down to neutral. Lightly rev each motor independently to determine what side has obstruction. Pull plug. Submerge hand. Clear debris. Back on the throttle.

Currently still enjoying the 4th.
