My favorite being - Clean your bottom! Many people have no idea that a dirty boat creates more drag - in my experience as much as 25% more fuel used or more. When my boat used to get dirty (before I bought a lift), it would go from a top speed of 48-50 - down to 35-37!!! That loss goes across the whole speed/rpm spectrum. So full throttle to go 35, or for example 3/4 throttle to go 24! It kills your wallet!

For my boat, I've found the sweet spot right at 5000-5200rpm for fuel efficiency over longer distances. I've observed 5100rpm at 27mph consuming 9.0gph for 3.0mpg. That's with 3 people, full fuel, 200lbs of gear, and bimini open in my 2020 212s with the 1.8L engines. Wind, current, water conditions, will all affect that of course.
The sweet spot is right there at 7.9 - 8 gph… with 3-4 people, an extra 22 gallons of fuel, 160# of trolling motor batteries, a 40-50# trolling motor, and probably another 250# of gear, and a 50# ice chest I was getting right at 3.0 mpg at 3900’ of elevation with OEM impellers.
