If you are on a computer, you can point your mouse at anything you don't know what it is, and it tells you in hover text what it is. That said, here are a few tips:
  • Pin = Thread is a sticky
  • Glasses = you are watching that thread (you will be notified if someone replies)
  • Mini Avatar on top of big avatar=you posted on that thread

Below I have mapped out the interface and most of the thread buttons.....I'll put this in the Support forum too.

And if you want to edit a Thread title, it isn't obvious where you go to do this.....you have to click on "Thead Tools" and then edit title. The other edit button you can see in the screen shot next to the word "Report" is what you use to edit the content of the post.edit thread title.jpg

You can only edit a thread for 30 days. After that is becomes locked for editing.

I don't believe "thread tools" have always been here...did you add them?
 
@Julian. Anything like this speeds upmthe learning curve. I am big on flagging threads that help me with projects.
