So who has ever been to Abacos? I want to go to the cheeseburger in paradise party next year. Wondering who has done it. What the spots to checkout would be? Anything special to know.

Abacos was destroyed in last years hurricane. Not sure if they have rebuilt it back up to take on guests (?). Do you know if they did?

I saw advertisement for the cheeseburger party on Facebook. I'm assuming they did. But not 100percent sure.

I believe much of it is gone and will take many years to rebuild/recover. I would definitely do more research before attempting that trip. Maybe the FB party knows more. IDK. Good luck.

I talked to some people on a bahama sail boat page and they said there is marinas and hotels open in abacos

That's great news! Very happy for the people there if that's true. The news said it would take years to rebuild. Fingers crossed...

Cheeseburger in Paradise is just south of me out on Cabbage Key Island. When the boys were young we took the SeaRay 25' there and spent the night. Pretty good margaritas too.

We were there in 2017, for our first off-shore trip. Spent 5 days in Treasure Cay. Loved it, great place to be.
Unfortunately, most of Abacos was destroyed by Dorian.
Rebuilding is in progress, but it is slow. Even in July, 9 months after Dorian, Treasure Cay was still without power and without water. The crews are just now getting to Treasure Cay with limited power and very limited water.
The marina was cleaned up rather quickly, and fuel became available late last year (TC is one of the places that always seemed to have fuel).
They are still demolishing buildings and in clean-up mode. Some buildings have been repaired. I expect Treasure Cay to be ready for limited tourism next summer.
Green Turtle Cay fared a little better, and was quicker with cleanup and rebuilding. So was Hope Town. Last I heard even Nippers is now being rebuilt. Marsh Harbor is still a mess and a major safety risk.

Check in November and do a search for Steve Dodge's Abacos Cruising Guide. It's $30 well spent, with the latest info on how to get there, routes, water depths, fuel, where to go, what to do, a detailed description of every island, marina, town, and attraction. No Name Cay is where the pigs are (who miraculously survived Dorian). Nippers has the Sunday Pig Roast.

From a logistics point of view, leave from either Stuart or West Palm Beach, and go to West End. It's 70 miles. West End has a nice marina with fuel. From there, it's another 80 miles to Spanish Cay. Also a good marina, about always has fuel, and a good restaurant. From there it's 30 miles to Green Turtle, and another 10 to Treasure, and another 10 to Hope Town.
