Ahoy folks,
I'm not a new sailor, I'll have 25 years complete with the RCN this fall, but I am new to sailing on things smaller than frigates.
I've got my small boat license, and successfully ran my GT 187 through the summer last year, putting just about 20 hours on it. Some good lessons learned, including the 'don't run over the rope' lesson. That only cost me a pocket knife...thank goodness!
I am looking forward to putting the boat into Halifax Harbour at some point this summer, and taking the family for a little spin around the basin and out to downtown. Should be a good time. That said, I've only run the boat on our lake so far, and am pondering the 'extra' things I may need in the harbour.
I've already located a fuel filling location at a marina that I can go to (and if we're on the water for the day, I'll probably need fuel at least twice!) but some other queries have come to mind. Do I need to have a VHF radio in the boat with me?
Anyhow, I'll be on here now and then...enjoying the 'boat life'
