Air filter hose is crooked

I was doing winterization on my SX190 today and removed the hose between air filter and carburetor to spray the fogging oil in. I noticed it was crooked on one side and I had difficulty putting it back on firmly over the plastic connector. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a correct technique to make sure it sits firmly in place and connected properly to both filter box and carburetor intake? Thank you

Did you by chance put it on the opposite way it was? If it had a bend made in it then maybe you put the bend on the wrong side when you reinstalled.

There is another hose clamped on the top of the crooked connector hose so I could not have flipped it in any other way. I'm just wondering why factory connector hose is visibly shorter on one side. What's the rationale and is there any trick to installing it?

Can you take a pic? My engine setup is different. Are there notches on your intake hose piping so that it will line up with the mating parts on the throttle body and air filter box?

This will require for me to disassemble it again. I should have taken the picture right away but now it will have to wait until I get inside the boat again. Here is a diagram that shows this specific component https://www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha/boat/2017/212-limited-xbt1800cs/intake-2 as item #9 called pipe part number 6AP-E4419-00-00. On my boat it's not symmetric with one side being visibly shorter than the other one which does not allow me to fit it properly on either one flange or the other. I'm thinking of calling the dealer tomorrow and asking about this specific part. Hopefully they have a close blow-up picture to tell me if it's defective or meant to be this way. I may even order a replacement and turn in my old one on warranty.

Take a look at this ribbon delete thread https://jetboaters.net/threads/1-8l-ribbon-delete-2017-212x.18393/. It has some pics at the bottom of his post that I think shows the air boot/piping you’re talking about. There shouldn’t be any thing really crooked. The longer side goes towards the engine it appears from the images in that thread. If it’s sitting kinked or crooked then I have to imagine your piping isn’t slide all the way around the mating part. Perhaps some of it is folded inside? I doubt your part is defective. Sounds like you just don’t have it slide all the way on. Not sure if there is a internal notch in the boot that sort of aligns it to a notch molded on the throttle body or air box but look for things like that as well.

This the part below? I can see how it could be a little struggle to get it back in but you honestly guys have it easy compared to us supercharged guys since our throttle body is much harder to get to. Looking the pic how big of a deal is it to remove the air box or loosen it enough to help give you some room to slide the boot on and then tighten back down the air box?

You are correct, that is exactly the part in question. Looks from the picture like it's perfectly symmetric on both ends. My part is not like that. One side is not even around the edge. That's why I cannot get it in perfectly. It slides either from one side or another. I guess I have to pull it out and take a picture.
