Pulled the boat the other day to move it to a new marina and found the hull encrusted with spider algae.
This was not a surprise, I had expected to see algae and lake scum.
What was surprising was how tough the algae was to remove.
First I tried a vinegar and water wash with zero results.
Then after reading on this forum about hull cleaning I bought the dreaded On&Off acid wash.
This stuff is nasty and not very environmentally friendly.
I covered the trailer with plastic, wore a paint respirator, goggles, rubber boots (old pair of fire boots) rubber gloves and long sleeves, and went to work.
Using a spray bottle and scrub brush I finally removed the algae. (Tenacious stuff!)
Then washed the hull with Attwood Boat Soap and applied the Hot Sauce!
This is the first time trying any of these products, they all work.
Love the Hot Sauce!
The boat won't sit in a wet slip ever again.
Bought a used hydrohoist 6000lb lift, no more acid wash for me.
