Amp selection

Well I against others advice I purchased two kicker px series amps. The price was cheaper than the jl. The 500.1 and 300.4 and the boat came with a 200.2. The 500 powers 1 kicker 10. The 300 powers my swim deck and tower speakers and the 200 powers the speakers in the boat. The 500 and 300 run very hot. The amp for the tower and swim deck get so hot it goes into protection mode. So I'm at a cross roads. I'm either gonna have to install fans on the amps or buy a new amp. If I buy a new amp I'd like to get 1 amp to power all my speakers. What would yall recommend?

What speakers do you have...are they wired correctly per the amp specs?

The sub, how many inboat speakers and what kinda towers?

Maybe a JL 800/8 would work depending on what kinda speakers u running.

Responded about the Kicker's in the other thread, I have 5 with no issues of going into protection. How big of wire is going to them? Are the gains set properly?

I do have a Kicker KXMA800.8 I am trying to get rid of though lol.

For power I used a 4 gauge ground and feed to a 1x2 power block one for each power and ground. After the block it goes to 8 gauge per kicker instructions. The speakers are wired up how kicker has them wired. I currently have the gains set to just under half. I lowered them to see if they would run cooler.

Don’t want to sound like a fan boy but once again I have praise for JL audio amps and 0 awg wire from Knuknoceptz. They ran for 16 hours this weekend while the boat was taking direct full sun in the 90s. Never blinked.

That is two jl m400 -4 being pushed pretty hard to power two 4 ohm subs and two sets of 4 ohm full ranges at near max volume while cruising.

Impressive....I have also experienced similar results with JL...after learning from experience. You ran you stereo a long time, what kinda battery performance did you experience? How many house batteries do you run?

@James R Whitten I do believe gaining the amp correctly should improve the results, but there could be other culprits, but from my experience those should run those speakers fine.

This was while cruising around 6k rpms on a long trip over the course of two days so that certainly helped the batteries. Two group 31 agms is all I have. One house and one start. My inverter for the kegerator was also running as need when the compressor would kick on. I did NOT hook up to shore power the whole time either. I did turn turn radio way down for short bits in no wake zones.

not bad at all....those JL amps dont seem to draw nearly as much juice as they put out.

Im running two group 29 batteries for the house and 3 JL amps and no low battery so far, although I have charged mine up overnight when power is available depending on where Im docking.
