I am going to be doing my first service myself due to my dealer in Columbus, Ohio... let’s just say not being very customer friendly! Anyone using AMSOIL products? Thoughts?

I used them before for 2 cycle boats. They were competitive in price and quality, but options were minimal. There is so much good quality 4 cycle oil I have not considered them again.

Keep in mind this topic can be polarizing and almost fanatical, so don't be surprised as folks may withhold their opinion or provide interesting claims.

I understand that. I believe its a good oil and easier for me to get than Yamalube.

I use castrol high mileage blend (which we used by the prior owner) as long as you replace often I think the oil quality is so good now that all of them provide the necessary performance and protection.

Their marine oil is great, all I use; I love their oil filters, too, as they are rock solid.

I would go with conventional Yamalube for the first oil change, then switch to amsoil synthetic thereafter.
At 10hrs the engine is still breaking in, and most say these are old school motors so break-in is best with conventional oil.

What is a “2 cycle boats”???

I know what a 2 stroke motor is....but I’m dumbfounded on what a 2 cycle boat is....

Yes I use Amsoil in everything I have... well except my 94 XJ because it leaks lol.
