I have a 2013 242 Limited S and am looking for an anchor that fits in the anchor locker fittings. I have been using a large box anchor since my boat was new and love how it performs. That said, I have to store it in a seat and my anchor locker has remained unused. I also don't like pulling off seat cushions to get to the anchor and line compared to the idea of popping open the anchor locker. I've thought about storing my box anchor in the locker, but don't think it will fit and I would need to put some serious padding in there.. What do you guys do/suggest? Thanks!

Danforth S600 is what Yamaha uses for it's 'deluxe anchor'.
You can go bigger if you like, but will need to cut the stock length to the 18 1/4.

I've used them for the 6 or 7 years of Yamaha ownership, with no issues, but I have been boating a long time with these things-
Needs scope to set!
The inconvenience of the longer scope is more than offset by the convenience of storage and availability in the bow locker, for me.
That said, if I really have to start counting on my anchor, beyond the lunch hook, I will move to a Rocna, and figure a way to suspend it in the Yamaha bow locker.
So far, anchoring problems and needs have not deserved the effort (to date)-

@Glen That is a good looking anchor...too bad I just got my box anchor delivered today!

I have the same boat and use a small box anchor. It fits in the locker easily when folded up. I added some padding at the bottom, but with the rope underneath the anchor and the anchor in the bag, I'm not sure it's needed. Small is the recommended size for up to a 30' boat and has worked every time for me.

There was an early thread that gave some ideas on how to install the box anchor in the front locker. I tried looking for it, but could not find it.

I tried using the front locker for my small box anchor, but it just became too cumbersome. If you do put your box anchor in the front locker, just make sure that your extra padding does not cover up the drain hole in the locker. I did this by accident and ended up with a ton of water in the locker and scared the heck out of me. Thought I was taking on water :).

I use a small box anchor that fits in my front locker and holds the boat great. I removed the pin holding blocks and lined the locker opening with neoprene. I also out some padding in the locker. I think my padding actually slows water ingress when I am going slow with a bow load of people and the drain is under water.

It is a tight fit but works for me. Here are some pics from the other forum. http://yamahajetboaters.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37919&start=15#p319212

Good to know the model of anchor that will fit. Looks like Yamaha prices their product at nosebleed levels compared to buying the anchor elsewhere. Thanks for all the suggestions guys..
