Stuff like that will be really amazing once battery technology finally progresses and can become efficient. Can you imagine something like that with a battery that can last a few hours or more?
 
I'm surprised UPS isn't looking into tech like that ;)
 
I strongly suspect this will fall to the same problem that doomed the jet packs of the '60s (ref the Gilligan's Island photo):
The energy required is so great that the useful run time is far too short.
