Hi Fellow Jetboaters! I have a 2008 SX 230 which I got late last summer and absolutely love (have always had stern driven boats, prior, and this is my first jet boat experience). The bilge pump seems to work fine but the toggle switch needs to be turned to "on" in order for any water in the bilge to be pumped out. The mechanic, at the marina where we keep it, took a look at this and he seems to think the wiring is such that it will not turn on automatically and the pump toggle switch needs to be in the on position (he thinks, from the wiring, this was factory made).
Does anyone have an older jetboat and, if so, do you think he is right with his diagnosis? Obviously, very reluctant to leave on after a day on the water in that it may drain the battery. By the way, we use a fork lift service so the boat does not stay in the water all the time.
Any help/guidance/assistance is greatly appreciated!

I had a 2006 AR210 before I got my new 252SD. I always had to have the switch on for the bilge to work. I think it even says in the Manuel for the 2006 that when the boat is in the water the switch should be on. The newer boat have auto bilge pumps from what I heard. I am actually going out to test my new boat tonight after work to see if the bilge will come on automatically.

you have to have the toggle switch on to power the pump,
once it's powered it will "search" for water every few minutes, if it senses water (resistance on the pump vanes) it will continue to pump,

If you leave the boat in the water for extended periods you should consider replacing the pump with a float switch type,

I would tell you to replace the pump, add a second higher up in the engine compartment as an emergency back up and include a high water alarm, our jet boats are great but if a cooling hose coming loose at speed you'll fill up fast and probably not even know it,

Have you changed your scupper valve yet ??

I have an 08 AR230 and my pump is automatic, I only turn the switch on to make it turn on, otherwise I leave it off and it will kick on every 5 or so minutes. I’ve actually rerouted the wire from the battery to the switch so it’s not constantly on all the time until I turn a battery on. I trailer mine though so that’s why I did that.

My 2017 boat has a bilge pump that requires: the battery be switched on and the bilge pump be on. I keep my boat in a rack via forklifts. I have had no problems with leaving everything off and the transom plugs out while in the rack. To the best on my knowledge, my bilge pump has expelled less than a cup of water in 3.5+ years.

My 2013 requires pump switch and Batt switch on to work..........as Scottintexas says it will check every few min for water if no water, it shuts off and waits.......has a timer chip and pressure resistance censer somewhere.
