Hello. I have been lurking the forums for the last few months as I was researching the boat we wanted to buy. I appreciate all the helpful information here. This is our second boat and first jet boat (first was a older Bayliner). Whatever I know about the AR240 or jet boats is from this forum, jetboaters, and YouTube. I'm not sure if he posts on here but big thanks to Rob who has the Rob's Yamaha Jetboat DIY Maintenance YouTube channel. I've watched the crap out that channel, most informative and pushed me over the edge on going with the Yamaha.
Not sure if it is OK to post initial questions in Welcome Aboard but I certainly have some. The Yamaha dealer I got the boat from is mainly a motorcycle shop and just started selling boats this year. They have tried to be helpful but have given me some confusing info/advice. Hopefully the veteran boaters can help clear things up.
Looking for a true/false on things this dealer told me
- 1 battery from the 2 battery system is connected to each engine. True or False? This doesn't make sense to me since it would be counter to the idea of running a true start and house. Also, I have noticed that unless I switch start battery to "on" the connext doesn't power up. If this is the case, then what does the house battery actually power solo as everything seems to run through connext?
- From 3 different people at the dealership I was told the engine break in period is 10 hours, then someone else said 20 hours, then finally another guy 100 hours (seriously?!!!). What is it really?
- I should change oil every 20 hours. True or false?
