Hey all,

Just purchased a 2013 242 Limited S w/ 40 hours on it. Boat has barely been used and I got it for a fair price, totally pumped!

Looking for honest owner opinions on best mods/must do's to the Yamaha.

So far I know for sure I wan't to replace the batteries (four years old, not sure how often he tendered them), do the 50 hour service early, ez locks, thrust vectors (maybe?)...

oh yah and drive the living piss out of it this summer

@renrab I would get out the old grease gun and work it into all the cables and fittings. Also recommend looking over that trailer.... especially if it was used in salt water.

Trailer guides is my first recommendation, cobra jet fins and fangs (the latter for better steering response in reverse) are my second and third recommendations.

What part of the Great White North are you in? I'm on the east coast...Halifax area.

I drive a Glastron GT187, 2nd year with it.

Planning to spend a lot more time on the water this summer.

It is hard for me to justify getting rid of brand new carpets but man do I love the look of the seadek. I also read a couple reviews that it will hold up to my dog better perhaps...

Fresh water use only but I already figured once I got the boat at the slip I would get the trailer oil sprayed, etc.

I need to grab a copy of a service manual or do a good search on common grease points! Thanks for the tip.

I don't plan to pull it out more than a few times a season but I can definitely see the benefit of having trailer guides. I guess I need to do some research in regards to Cobra vs Thrust Vector...Another topic altogether I am sure.

LOL that is hilarious. I grew up in BC and Southern Ontario IS out East. In fact we get so depressed thinking about what is between Alberta and Ontario that we don't even consider travelling in that direction!

Congrats @renrab on the new boat. I'd put some kind of fins on it first, ez-locks second and a Perfect Pass system to save your marriage if you plan on wakeboarding or skiing third

@itsdgm Is the stock cruise assist that useless when it comes to wakeboarding? I was wondering why so many opt for Perfect Pass. Already installed cobra ultimate fins/fangs and ez-locks

@MrMoose , Lake St.Clair, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, Detroit River are all close. Georgian Bay is a cruise away but absolutely beautiful area.

Oh and of course I will be towing it down to FL for a Bimini/Keys run
