Im looking at a Waverunner to buy, and there are two.

2001 Yamaha XL1200 with 90 hours, and a 1999 XL800 with 29 original hours.

Is there anything I should know bout these. I need your help asap. I'm going to be driving over to check them out in a few.

The extent of my knowledge is they are 2 stroke. I was/still am shopping, but I'm holding out for a good 4 stroke. For something that will probably get used once a month, I want to pretty much never have to put a wrench to it. 4K or so puts you in a nice FX/FXHO that should be just as reliable as can be.

I would go with the 1200 some of the 800 engines had an adjustable exhaust port that had some issues if you did not clip them and some did not I guess they fixed the issue but I do not recall the year. I like my 1800 engines but the 1200 2 stroke was pretty fast. Always check the compression and the rod end play, plus look for hull repairs, etc. and know the nada book value
