image.jpeg Anyone had success fixing this issue? How would be best way to fix?

If would remove it, mix up some marine tex epoxy, fill the holes, let it cure, then re-drill pilot holes and put the screws back in - that's probably the quickest way. I will ping @Glassman top chime in.

In the past in other boats I have found screws that would fit with washers and bolts with locktite so I wouldn't have to do it again as long as you can get your hand up there from the inside to tighten the bolts.

Thought about that but it is a long skinny reach at an awkward angle

I feel you I did have to do this to the front grab rail on the Yamaha which meant climbing in the bow seat compartment and getting my hand up there it was not fun and your is in a more difficult spot so I cant imagine it would be fun or easy.

@Ajax Is there enough access to get up there with a piece of 1/4 inch aluminum stock maybe 1.5 X 4 inches? If that's possible I would oversize the holes for the bolts and use nut & lockwasher. You would probably need to use some epoxy to hold the aluminum in place while bolting. You could also Weldabond the nuts on the aluminum stock so you could later remove the stainless screws.

I'd go for the bolt/big washer/locknut solution....will be a pain to get up in there, but won't have to do it ever again!

I also love them ^^^ and have not sold my boat!

A band aid alternative would be to use a plastic sheet rock reinforcement from a local hardware store. It would be quicker and easier to get than a heli coil, at least for me, not as messy as epoxy and not require special tools or contorting like a nut and bolt would. Essentially it is using plastic insert as a wedge between the stripped screw hole and the stock screw. Would it work? I think so. Would I do it myself? I'm not sure since the base is subject to a lot of stress especially when the boat is underway and the Bimini is deployed.

I was going to mention NOT to run with the bimini deployed until you resolve this issue.

Newer SXs have it bolted through cap from factory. I have taken these braces out in my SX190 when I installed a tower, but then installed them back in for the new owner as he liked the flexibility of being with / without the tower (which had harness plugs), to fit in his garage.

It is a pain to maneuver in that tight space, but not too bad with some good wrench extender, I wouldn't try anything else at this point.

this is what i did on mine, stainless machine phillip bolt with stainless nylocks with a finder washer. pita to put in but never loose again.

One quick fix is to slap some two part epoxy on a strip of 1/4" Starboard from underneath and just use a longer fastener.
;)

I love this board...so many great ideas for a simple fix that I never would have thought of!

Thanks all. I'm going to replace with new fastener with but and lock washer.

Update. Very easy fix at $0 cost. Had my daughter hold screw driver in the screws and I was able to lay upside down in the storage area behind captains chair and reach it with 10" socket extension. Few scratches from fiberglass but not bad at all.
Biggest question is why did the nylon nuts back out to begin with.
