Anybody out there installed a head?

Hello all.
I have a 2016 242 limited s e-series and want to put a head in. Has anyone explored this? Pump able vs portable and what ya used that fit would be greatly appreciated.

I don't recall anyone installing one on a Yamaha and that's probably due to the lack of space for all of the necessary components. You'll need a space big enough for your storage tank, pump and related hoses.

I would start by finding an area for the storage tank and pump and seeing if that is big enough for your needs.

Looking at the space in there it seems one of those pump out units would fit, the ones with the fresh water tank built-in on top of the bottom waste tank. You connect the hoses and vent to the lower waste tank. You could even do through-hull fittings i would imagine.

You don't need a kitchen sink and all the plumbing with it for a functional head in the 24' boats.

Cycle Springs in Clearwater has installed pumpable heads in several boats.

I installed a dometic 930 series portable in my boat. Got it at west marine for a little over $120. It has a fresh water tank on top and a holding tank on the bottom. To empty it you have to remove the entire unit, unclip the bottom from the top and dump the contents of the bottom into a toilet or Rv pump out/Ceptic tank. Only been used for pee so far, I empty it once a season and no surprise gifts so far. I have a standing rule that if you dump in it you must dump it at the end of the day. The difference with the marine version is it comes with mints to hold it in place on the floor of the compartment.

A simpler and cheaper alternative is something similar to the above called the lovable loo. Basically a toilet seat with clamps on the underside of it to hold a bag, then seat and bag mount to the tool of a 2.5 gallon or 5 gallon bucket. $30.
