I previously read somewhere about fixing the drain plug leak on the AK model boats. I've searched and searched but can't find what I'm looking for. It might be on the "other forum" somewhere, but I don't visit there anymore after finding this place.

I had the typical bilge debris that caused leaks with the plug. After thoroughly cleaning the debris out, the plug still leaks. If i tighten the plug to what I feel is normal tightness and drop a hose pipe in the bilge, the plug leaks like crazy. Even if I tighten the plug to the point I feel like I'm about to break it, it still has a steady drip.

It looks like on the parts diagram that the fitting is built into the AK mounting plate. Has anyone tried attaching a brass or stainless garboard fitting to an AK model? It looks like the typical 3 screw round brass fittings might be too big to fit that area, but maybe an oval 2 screw type might fit.

Anyone else had this issue, who am I kidding.... all of our boats leak. Anyone figured out a quick fix without dealing with warranty from Yamaha? I'd rather spend a few bucks and a few minutes in the driveway and be done with it.

Maybe a new o-ring on the drain plug? If it was installed with any of the debris in there, it could have been nicked; it doesn't take much to cause them to leak.v All the other drain plugs used on that boat are identical. Try a different plug and see if it leaks as well. I also use a little silicone grease on the o-ring so it seats better.

I'll try the o-ring and see if that fixes it.
