My wife is currently in Lake George, NY with her family and her brother called me with a concern today. He stated that there was about a half inch of water in the ski locker (deep hull storage). No water was brought onto the boat. I never had an issue before but this outing there are 6 adults on the boat while tubing etc....My brother in-law opened the drain plug in the deep hull locker which drained to the engine compartment (he said). The bilge pump did not activate while the battery was on and the bilge pump switch was on. He said the key had to be turned on for the bilge pump to work.

First, could the water from the anchor compartment make its way to the deep hull storage compartment? They said the lake was a little rough today and there were probably people in the bow area while underway.
Second, why does the key need to be on for the pump to work or are they doing something wrong.

Thanks for your help.
