Hello everyone, I have got an sleekcraft excutive with a 454 and a Berkeley jet 12JE. I took the engine out and got it repainted and the starter was replaced.
Motor ran very rough probably a carb isssue, but after some testing I noticed some metal sheers in the engine bay.
So what I am seeing right now is that the bearing cap is broken in pieces. Maybe because the engine was running so rough?
Noticed that its made of an aluminium alloy or something like that. Why isnt it made of hardened steel, because of weight savings? What I also find really weird is that the engine only mounts to 2 enginemounts and leans on the jetpump.
That should be to much weight right?
I have added a pic off the replacement part made by berkely.
Has anyone experienced something like that or has some advice? Thanks in advance.
Greetings Luuk
