I have a gray mooring cover that has been sitting outside for few months and its got black spots(molds?) and other misc crap that I would like to get rid of.

whats a best, safe cleaning product I can use to wash the cover? I plan to leave the cover on the boat and using a brush to clean.

I agree with @RadioWaves, contains alkylated amonium chloride compounds basically same as Lysol (a disinfectant/antimicrobial agent). Should not be destructive unlike any kind of bleach, chlorine or oxy.

ordered wet and forget 1gal from walmart!

I lay mine out in the driveway and scrub it with a deck brush and Starbrite sail and canvas cleaner. Then I rinse it good, flip it over and do the same thing to the other side. After letting it dry in the sun, I saturate it with 303 Fabric Guard to restore the water repellency.

I typically do this once a year in the spring after the sun starts blazing again. It gets rid of all the white chalk that comes off the cover after a while, and takes care of the small seeps around the seams. Costs about $100 and the better part of a day.

@Bill D man with everything... what don't you have? lol

Lol, I started this routine after my first battle with mildew. I always hated the chalky stuff and figured that if I had any chance for the 303 to work I would have to clean the cover. It makes it look so much better and gains back much of the water repellency that the cover originally has. It's much easier to just take care of the cover instead of cleaning the mildew from the boat and cleaning the cover. Side note, I also remove the bimini top over the winter months when I know I won't have it deployed for a while. I had mildew there too last year.
